Helping Those In Need!
Dear friends, as we all know the earthquake this past week in Haiti was absolutely devastating! It seems almost inconceivable to me the pain and destruction that has taken place! I do believe though that this is an opportunity for us to all take part and give to those who are in desperate need and to do all that we can to help! There are several different organizations and ministries that you can give through. Compassion International and the Red Cross are only two of a long list. There are also supply drives that may be near you that you can donate to. In fact I am headed to Savannah as soon as I post this to do just that. Southernsavers.com has a post giving some locations in the south. Another way I have given is through Hope For Haiti. Jenny from Simply Delightful Designs is hosting a raffle and for even just $1 donated you can be entered to win several great prizes, you choose which you are interested in and give to that one. There are also several other creative ways of giving. You can just text the Red Cross directly for a $10 donation, you can read how to on Hiptosave. Whatever way suits you is awesome! Let's keep praying for the people of this country! Also, head on over to Money Saving Mom and if you have a blog let others know what you are doing and link up to her post and she and her husband have committed to giving $10 to Compassion International for each link up through January 21, 2010. Please let's join together in giving to others!
Update: When we get back from Savannah I will be adding a link up and my husband and I will give $.50(up to $100) to the Red Cross through January 21, 2010 if you link up your blog on here as well!
I did not get have a chance to share this earlier but one of the college students involved with our college ministry is from Haiti. All of her immediate family that I know of is here in the states. I am waiting to hear from her about whether she has other family members in Haiti still or if she still has any friends there. Please add them to your prayers as well. I have her in some of our posts on our family blog here, here and here. Thanks again for your prayers and giving!
