March Freezer Daze Wrap Up

So another month down of Once A Month Cooking!  Have I told you how much I love it?  I am so excited about having already prepared meats, beans, a couple of casseroles and some yummy snacks already on hand.  I also made a master list of what is in the freezer and pantry so that it will be easier to plan meals for the month.  I love it when things are organized and efficent (still working on the organized part).  So I wanted to share some pics of what I prepared on Saturday and Monday morning.

Banana Bread

Sliced for easy snacks or breakfast (idea from Money Saving Mom)

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins (my personal favorite!)

I think they are Josiah's favorite too!  Don't worry we don't normally feed our 11 month old chocolate but of course he loved it!

My Finalized List from March Once A Month Cooking:

2 loaves banana bread
2 green bean cassoroles
Lentils
Venison browned with taco seasoning
Venison browned with seasoning
1 grits casseroles
Pancakes

The bulk of my cooking/baking was done on Saturday but I browned the meat Monday morning due to dinner plans we had Saturday night.

There are a couple of things I learned this time around:

  1. Prep work is very important.  I knew I was going to cook on Saturday for a couple of weeks but I wish I had done a more thorough  inventory before I cooked/baked.  I think I could have probably done a couple more dishes if I would have had a couple of additional ingredients.
  2. Next time I would like to make some dough recipes, pizza and bread specifically.
  3. This month and last month I made recipes that I knew previously, next month I would like to venture into some new territories and try some that we have not had before, Life As Mom and 5 Dollar Dinners are two great resources for this!
Did you try Once A Month Cooking this month?  I would love to hear how it went if you did.  Also, link your post up to Money Saving Mom on Tuesday.  Interested in trying it next month?  Let me know if you have any questions or if you have any good freezer ideas!

  2. Way to go! This is only the second month that I've done OAMC but I am loving it! With four children ages five and under, this has been a life-saver for me! You can check out my blog post here:
