Staying Frugal, Getting Fit Giveaway!


I don't know about you, but there is just something about warm weather and sunny skies that motivates me to get out and get moving.  Recently, I made a goal to lose 10 lbs. for the summer.  I love short term goals and this summer weather has been a great catalyst to get me moving! Unfortunately, we do not have the money for a fitness gym, so instead I have headed outdoors to get fit!

My personal fitness goal is to walk at least 3-5 times a week, 3 being the minimum. I have been walking in the mornings with the boys in a jogging stroller. I have loved going out with the boys, it has been fun and refreshing to be with them. I want to continue challenging myself, so by the end of the summer I would like to be jogging for most of my workouts.

 As I have been out enjoying the beach weather, I thought it would be fun to hear what others are doing to get in shape this summer.  What a better way to do this, than to have a giveaway?  So here is what is up for grabs:

I chose Subway because it is both healthy and refreshing.  They have their $5 foot long sandwiches, that you can cut in half and have 4 different meals for just 10 bucks!  Now that is what I call, frugal and fit!  So, now how to enter:

There are 3 ways to enter (make sure to include your email address with each entry):

1)Leave a comment sharing what you are doing this summer to get in shape and a personal goal related to your fitness.  
2)Become a subscriber of Simple Savings Mom by email or reader, and then leave a comment saying you did so.(email subscriber must be confirmed to count)
3)Follow me on twitter @kjordan and leave a comment saying you did so.

The giveaway will last from Monday, May 31st at 11:00 p.m.(EST) to Tuesday, June 8th at 11:59 p.m.(EST)  I will announce the winner on Thursday, June 10th.  I am looking forward to hearing everyone's plans for getting fit this summer!

  6. I have DVt and it is just a goal of mine to have some sort of exercise or activity in my day. My husband and I have been vigilant in having a bout a 1/2 hour at least walk a day after dinner.

    I am doing some gardening, running in the mornings, and talking walks as often as I can. Trying to get my husband to join me too. Also, trying to eat more summer healthy foods - watermelon, cantelope, sweet corn, veggies from my garden! I'm growing tomatoes, grean beans, spinach, black eyed peas.

  23. I'm wanting to walk each morning, too. I've bought an exercise ball that came with weights so I'm hoping to put that to use. I had been enrolled in a gym, but felt guilty if I didn't go, so instead of spending the money each month I decided to do it at home! Missie

    I'm choosing to not drink any calories--no juices, no coffee drinks, (ok, my Crystal Lite has 5 calories, but...)
    Whole fruit and vegetable are where I'm going to try to get my majority of calories.

  75. I am trying to drink a small bottle of water every time I get a craving or think I'm hungry for a snack. I use a kid's 'fun size' water bottle so it's not as daunting. It's really helping me eat less and the water is great for my skin!

  87. I've been using my treadmill lately, but I'm hoping that I can get out more w/ the kids to hike at the state park, walk on the beach, etc.

    I LOVE fruit & veggies, so summer is a prime time for me to fill up on them and lose weight.

  96. i have lost a few pounds and just need to tone up. i excercise and walk daily. i love that i can get a foot long and make it to fit my style. i load it up with veggies and when i get home take all the veggies and make a salad out of them.
